We love traveling with Harriet and Luca, but there are times when adults need to do adult things. So, after roping in (an admittedly reluctant) Grandma, we headed to Breathless Hotel in Cabo San Lucas for a weekend of kid-free fun.
What’s Breathless Hotel Like?
Nestled at the end of the swimmable Medano Beach, right where the calm waters of the marina meet the open sea of the Pacific Ocean, Breathless is one of the (excuse the pun) most breathtaking hotels in the entire region.
If you’ve stayed in one of Breathless’ other locations (they also have resorts in Cancun, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic), you will already know what to expect. The views are stunning, the food is exquisite, the rooms are opulent, and the evening entertainment is first-class. This is true five-star luxury.
It’s also an adult-only hotel, so not only did we not have our own little treasures in tow, but there were no screaming kids anywhere to be found. Instant bliss. It’s fair to say that we were questioning whether we should ever go back home.
Our view from the room was hard to beat; we looked down over the pool, had the ocean to the left, and the marina to the right.
What Activities Are Available in Breathless Hotel?
Because we traveled without Harriet and Luca, we only stayed for two nights. Most of it was spent relaxing in the pool by the bar. It’s an infinity pool that pushes right up to the main waterway out of the marina. You can lose hours sipping cocktails and boat-watching.
If you’re so inclined, another larger pool looks out over the sea. It a bit louder, with DJ sets and various pool games throughout the day. But if you’re looking for more vibrancy, it is a great place to hang out.
We spent both evenings eating in the Spanish-themed restaurant next to the pool bar. After one taste of the tapas, we didn’t want to go anywhere else.
The entertainment takes place on the rooftop, with different shows and events on each night of the week. We only went to one evening show, a modern twist on old Mayan dancing. The choreography was obviously great, but it was all the props and the accompanying light show that really made the event stand out.
Other activities available in the hotel include a spirit tasting session, seven different dining venues, a full-featured spa, a gym, organised beach sports, excursions to local places of interest, and more.
(Remember, if you want to do a local excursion, the baby turtle release in Todos Santos and the Ruta de Plata in the Sierra de la Laguna are both worthwhile trips.)
How Much Does Breathless Hotel Cost?
All this quality doesn’t come cheap. A single room for two adults for three nights starts around $1700 USD. It can be a lot more if you want to visit in peak season.
You can book directly on the Breathless website or can call the front desk directly on +52 624 104 9500.
